History
Armenian science school of otolaryngology was founded by professor Hmayak Harutyunyan in 1939.The latter devoted his extensive knowledge in persuading superior goal to develop vast network of otolaryngology in Armenia .Large group of his adherents , such as prof. N.Najaryan, prof K.Shukuryan, prof. A. Gyulkhasyan , prof. S.Avagyan, I.Azizyan phd, G.Babajanyan phd, selflessly continued to expand on the very work set by their predecessor.
The Chair of ENT diseases was founded in 1939,which was incessantly headed by professor Hmayak Harutyunyan
In 1959-1961 and 1961-1990 the chair was led by prof. Nikolay Najaryan and Kim Shukuryann, respectively.
In 1990-2008 the incumbent was occupied by prof. Raphael Khanamiryan.
Since 2008 the chair is led by the head of ENT department in Erebuni Medical Center , prof. Arthur Shukuryan
In 1968 ,Ilya Azizyan phd. founded pediatric ENT service, which he headed up to 2001.
Education
Teaching at the department is carried out in the form of cyclic classes including lectures and practical classes. Various didactic materials are used to increase visualization of the teaching process. During the practical classes students study contemporary methods of treatment and diagnostics of patients.
Postgraduate education
Postgraduate education includes Clinical Residency and PhD.

- Microsurgery and surgery in the benign and malignant tumors of the throat.
