YSMU Professor Karine Tokhunts has been selected as an Ambassador of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG).
For the first time in the history of the Organization, the ISUOG Ambassador was chosen from the South Caucasus and Middle Eastern region. This is a significant achievement both for our country and in the process of internationalization of the Medical University.
The Nominations Committee accepted her candidacy, and the Board of Trustees ratified her appointment as ISUOG Ambassador commencing at the time of the Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Seoul on 16 October 2023.
Ambassadors are active and engaged members of ISUOG who have volunteered, and are qualified, to take on significant duties in support of ISUOG’s activities in dedicated geographic regions. They promote all of ISUOG’s activities predominantly locally, but also worldwide and within their own specialty, to deliver an active and engaged membership appropriate to a learned society as well as connecting with professional partners.
ISUOG is a charitable organization and the leading international society of experts in ultrasound for obstetrics and gynecology. Beginning in 1991 with the first issue UOG Journal and the first World Congress, ISUOG has grown delivering education to members in 140 countries.
This international professional Association unites more than 15,000 doctors: obstetricians, gynecologists, ultrasound specialists from all over the world.
ISUOG’s long-term vision is that every woman in the world has access to ultrasound, that every scan provider is competent and that the diagnosis of obstetric and gynecologic conditions is effective so that women’s health outcomes improve.
ISUOG’s mission is to improve women’s health through the provision, advancement and dissemination of the highest quality education, standards and research information around ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology.
