The last 35 years of the history of a century-old medical university have been created together with Indian students and alumni. Many Indian graduates carry out successful humanitarian and professional activities in different countries of the world.
It was the idea of putting other's life first and dedicating her life for the betterment of the society that fueled YSMU Indian alumnus Priyanka Choudhary’s determination to become a doctor.
She was born and brought up in Jaipur, a heritage city in India.
Priyanka graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of YSMU in June, 2021.
“I always knew I wanted to become a doctor, it has been my childhood dream”, she tells.
After high school, while exploring her options to pursue medicine, Priyanka had come across YSMU. “After communicating with the alumni living in and outside of Armenia, I decided to take this plunge and apply for YSMU. Presently I am gratified to have made an informed decision and proud to be an alumnus myself”, she emphasizes.
The knowledge and the guidance Priyanka received at the university, have strengthened her foundation at the most basic level. “I am grateful to be supported by an expert group of the faculty, with an ever so encouraging environment to learn and flourish. Everything that I learnt at YSMU, has allowed me to clear my licensing exam in India with a good score, and I will be starting my internship soon”, she informs.
Armenia itself has made her a more confident and independent person. “It is a beautiful country with kind and hospitable people. Moreover, Armenia is a second home to me now. I definitely see myself coming back here”, Priyanka assures.
The future doctor believes that in order to be a good doctor, one should have appropriate knowledge, be open to learning, confident and a good communicator. “My advice to all the future doctors would be to stay consistent with their studies. Try to be the most hardworking person in your group and, most importantly, love your profession”, Priyanka Choudhary concludes.
