YSMU Alumna Karine Sargsyan serving as Visiting Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at Yerevan State Medical University

Sincе November 2017 Karine Sargsyan, Managing Director of Biobank Graz, University of Graz, has become Visiting Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at Yerevan State Medical University.

Karine Sargsyan is Vice Scientific Leader and Lecturer (Prof.) of Cross-Cultural communication and migration management at Karl Franzens University Graz, Founder and Leader of Sargsyan&Hartl OG (Elite Academy Graz), Lecturer (Management in health care sector; Change management; Innovation management), as well as Vice Scientific Leader and Lecturer (Prof.) of MSc in Biobanking at the Medical University of Graz. 

Karine Sargsyan received her medical education at Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi at the department of Pediatrics. Then she continued specialization in General Pediatrics at the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital in Yerevan. Karine Sargsyan completed her post graduate education in Practical Psychology at Yerevan State University. She received a degree of Expert of Medical and Clinical Nutrition by Pädiatrische Frühling in Graz.

Before leaving to Graz Karine Sargsyan worked and implemented numerous projects with the RA Ministry of Healthcare and many other organizations in the field of healthcare. Already in Austria she worked in the department of pediatrics at the Medical University of Graz, and since 2007 she has become the managing director of Biobank Graz. As a specialist she worked at the Division of  Medical and Clinical Nutrition, and Metabolic Disorders at the Institute of Child and Adolescent Health in “Arabkir” Joint Medical Centre. In 2009 Karine Sargsyan became the Scientific Director of the Competence Centre K BioPersMed (Biomarkers for Personalised Medicine).

She was presented with numerous awards among which are the “Academic Management Award for Biobank Graz”, 2009, the “Healthcare & Life Sciences Awards 2016: Most outstanding academic Biobank” and the “International Life Sciences Awards 2016: Best European Academic Biobank”.

Karine Sargsyan is also a member of many professional societies, she also is a member of the advisory boards of world-famous universities, author of more than 50 professional articles, as well as books, she also does an active volunteering job in the Armenian community of Graz and in many professional organizations.
