Purpose
To ensure the development of the scientific potential of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, to carry out the personnel shift of the professorial staff, to provide the rejuvenation of scientific personnel, to maintain the academic school and to strengthen the existing scientific researches.
Tasks
- • Carry out planning and preparation of scientific personnel in accordance with the needs of chairs and research groups through the postgraduate, PhD programs
- • Establishment of exemptions in post - graduate studies
- • Organize and carry out the spring and autumn qualification exams for the researcher
- • Carry out of scientific personnel qualification • Organization of general and professional education courses
- • Carry out the calculation of appropriate credits • Running of the individual documentation of researchers
- • Organization of the activities of the University's Science Coordination Council, Expert Committees, Ethics Committee and Committee of review of primary documents, material and methods.
Post-graduate study is the kind of training of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff in the system of postdiploma study which is being implemented according to the respective specialties of the «List of Scientific Degrees of Armenia» of the High Certifying Commission (HCC) of RA.
Post-graduate
PhD study is the kind of training of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff in the system of post-graduate education which is being implemented according to the respective specialties of the «List of Scientific Degrees of Armenia» of the Supreme Certifying Commission of RA.
Only RA citizens holding master degree or diploma of qualified medical specialist are eligible to apply for PhD study which is conducted through full-time and part-time, free and paid courses. The duration of full-time courses is 3 years and part-time courses last 4 years. During their study PhD students are required to pass qualification exam and get relevant credits as well.
Foreign citizens, as well as non-citizens can apply for PhD paid study based on intergovernmental and interinstitutional agreements or contracts as well as on their own initiative. Health insurance in the Republic of Armenia is mandatory.
Applicants are required to pass examination on their profession after having passed Foreign language (English TOEFL (iBT) – 46, French TCF - 200, German ON DAF - 60) and a test on Computer skills (25 scores).
Doctorate
Doctors study in the internal course which must not exceed 3 years. Only citizens of the Republic of Armenia that have Ph.D. degree are eligible to apply. Foreign citizens, as well as non-citizens enter the doctorate course of this or that institution or organization based on intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements or contracts as well as by their own initiative. Applicants must submit a basic or applied research project of scientific, economical, social-cultural importance for the university or ogranization. Application with all necessary documents must be addressed to the university rector or head of institution.
The corresponding department of the institution/organization submits a conclusion based on the discussion of all the documents. In case of positive result, the scientific or scientific technical council of the institution discusses the coclusion and makes decision on admission to doctorate study which is confirmed by the university rector/head of institution/orgaization. In case of 2 and more applicants, the selection is made by the scientific, scientific-technical council of the institution which decides the possible final date of the dissertation based on the applicant's extended plan. During the doctorate course, students must implement their anticipated individual program, complete the dissertation and hold its approbation. The scientific, scientific-technical councils certify them for 1 time annually, based on the reports of the students' programs. Those failing in certification are excluded from the course. In case of having valid reason they are allowed to restore his/her course within the a year by the order of the rector/head.
