The Student Parliament of Yerevan State Medical University was founded in 1992. It is an elective representative self-government body of the YSMU students. It is called to ensure the processes of student autonomy and self-government, to contribute to the social, scientific, intellectual, creative, cultural, moral and spiritual development of the students.

The governing bodies of the Student Parliament are the sitting of the parliament, the presidency and the president. In the role of the Student Parliament president have been Artak Grigoryan, Samvel Apinyan, Armen Ashotyan, Armen Hakobyan, Karen Avagyan, Avag Avagyan and Robert Galstyan.

Below are presented programs in different fields that are being implemented by the Student Parliament:

 

In educational and scientific fields

  • Organization of scientific conferences
  • Organization of competitions and awarding of winners
  • Organization of student congresses
  • Raising awareness of the population about international disease days.

In the fields of news and information

  • Publication of all programs by the Student Parliament and the university
  • Adaptations of popular programs to the medical field

  • “Golden Autumn” and “Student Spring” festivals
  • A march on April 24
  • Celebration event on March 8
  • Organization of photo exhibitions
  • Conducting artistic evenings
  • Orientational evenings for freshmen and foreign students
  • New Year’s party
  • Organization of the debate club
  • Stand up comedy sketches

In the social and health fields

  • Visits to orphanages and nursing homes
  • The Student Parliament also organizes free entertainment and rest for students.

In international fields

  1. The group of "English club"
  2. Informing students about international educational programs and scholarships on our Facebook platform
  3. Representation of Russian "Doctor-volunteers" in Armenia
  4. "Healthy lifestyle" campaign
  5. Visits to regions near the border for therapeutic and charitable purposes

In 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003, the YSMU Student Parliament won the “Haikyan” award as the best student self-government body of the year, and in 2004 The magazine “Medicus” of the Student Parliament was recognized as the best student paper.

Any student, clinical resident and intern of YSMU can participate in the activities of the Student Parliament. All you need is just visiting the room of the Student Parliament.
