YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan received Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Fresno, Head of the medical mission from the USA Perch Abgaryan and Fresno City Council member Mike Karbassi.
“Our cooperation with Mr. Abgaryan has years of history and is very productive. Our cooperation in the educational and medical fields has passed the test of time,” Armen Muradyan stated, greeting the guests and presenting the main mission of the century-old educational institution he leads, which is to train medical personnel and develop science in accordance with international educational programs.
The 100-year-old university has 6 faculties, “COBRAIN” Scientific-Educational Center for Fundamental Brain Research, and a high school.
Today, about 2,000 international future doctors from 33 countries receive education at the Medical University, and 8000 graduates carry out professional activities in 40 countries of the world.
According to the data for the last five years, 500 graduates of YSMU work in California. In three university hospitals (“Heratsi”, “Muratsan”, “Mikaelyan”), 100,000 patients receive medical care annually, of which 40,000 – in inpatient conditions.
Armen Muradyan also spoke about the implementation of the process of international accreditation of the medical university, noting the importance of cooperation in the sphere.
He also presented the work of the Homeland Defender's Rehabilitation Center – “Soldier’s House”, and represented its Director Haykuhi Minasyan.
The Rector stressed that in recent years, about 7,000 servicemen have had the opportunity to receive rehabilitation treatment at this Center, which has received pan-Armenian and international recognition.
Emphasizing the importance of deepening the cooperation, Fresno City Council Member Mike Karbassi presented the activities of Fresno State University.
The member of the Fresno City Council asked in which areas it is most appropriate to deepen the cooperation.
The Rector pointed out pediatrics and science. According to him, the exchange of experience in these and other areas, the implementation of joint research programs and the authorship of scientific publications would be a positive achievement.
Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Fresno, Head of the medical mission from the USA Perch Abgaryan proposed the idea of holding joint professional meetings with the participation of leading doctors not only in the USA, but also in the world.
The parties expressed their readiness to deepen the cooperation for the development of medicine and the strengthening of already formed relationships.
Since 2015, medical groups have been coming to Armenia from the USA under the leadership of Perch Abgaryan in order to provide medical services to the population of the regions and Artsakh.
