The Department of Medical Genetics of Yerevan State Medical University, with the participation of the WHO-International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and in partnership with the Medical University Graz, as well as Charles University, submitted a midterm report to the European Commission Research Executive Agency on the European Union's “Armenian Research Infrastructure on Cancer Research” – ARICE program.<\/p>\n
The document summarizes the activities of the first 15 months of the project (from September 2020 to November 2021 inclusive), the program's perspectives, weaknesses, emerging problems, as well as ways to effectively circumvent them.<\/p>\n
Based on the relevant conclusion of the European Research Executive Agency, the ARICE project implemented in our country and coordinated by the Medical University was ranked among the best Twinning programs.<\/p>\n
In 2020 YSMU won the European Union Horizon 2020 Twinning ARICE program. The program is dedicated to one of the most urgent health issues – cancer research. The duration of the program is 36 months.<\/p>\n
the project aims to increase the capacity of research infrastructure in the field of cancer research in Armenia by promoting digital-molecular diagnosis, integration of personalized genomic medicine to clinique, creation of a modern biobank.<\/p>\n
As a result of the project, YSMU will become a leader in the field of cancer genetic research in Armenia. The ARICE program has a high strategic significance.<\/p>\n
