India's independence day was celebrated at Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi.<\/p>\n
YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan, congratulating the friendly country on the 75th anniversary of independence, emphasized: “Every nation considers the formation of an independent statehood to be the highest achievement of its civilization. It is logical that being a cradle of civilization, India was able to restore its independence and become one of the most powerful countries in the world. During the years of independence, we managed to establish warm, close relations, in particular, to implement educational programs in the most humanitarian field, in medicine”.<\/p>\n
According to the Rector, the one-century medical university has passed 35 years of its activity together with Indian graduates, students, ambassadors, state officials.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia and Georgia Kishan Dan Dewal stressed in his speech: “When we were able to free ourselves from the yoke of foreigners thanks to the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of Indians, our country was not yet strong. We inherited a country that was divided into two parts, it was economically very poor, the level of education was only 12%. But our ancestors had one goal, one dream – to unite India. Thanks to their great efforts and sacrifices, today we have the honor of celebrating the independence of India”. According to the diplomat, today India is the country with the 6th strongest economy in the world.<\/p>\n
Addressing the YSMU students and thanking them for their active participation in all the events of the embassy, \u200b\u200bhe emphasized that they are members of one extended family.<\/p>\n
Gayane Avetisyan, head of the Dean's Office of International Students, emphasized that she had been teaching Indian students for more than three decades. “During this time I had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Indian culture, I learned that the Indians were patriotic like us – Armenians”, the Dean said assuring that the students sitting there would continue to add to the list of famous Indian doctors of the world.<\/p>\n
Then, the cultural program started with the performance of the anthems of the two countries, with the students performing national songs and dances.<\/p>\n
The future Indian doctors presented the struggle for the country's independence through staged episodes, as well as the states of India in their typical national costumes and music.<\/p>\n
