The conference entitled «EU HORIZON EUROPE PROGRAM AND EURAXESS – ARMENIA PORTAL – PRESENTATION – EVENT» was held in Yerevan.
RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arthur Martirosyan, Representative of the European Commission Signe Ratzo, Chairman of the RA Committee of Science Sargis Hayotsyan and President of the National Academy of Sciences Ashot Saghyan made opening speeches.
YSMU Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, COBRAINE Program Coordinator, Professor Konstantin Yenkoyan introduced the conference participants with a report on “Successful International Scientific Cooperation Experience Exchange”.
Presenting the history of YSMU and EU cooperation within the framework of the “COBRAINE” program, he mentioned: Specializing in biochemistry, studying the processes taking place in the cell, we took a step towards the brain. Realizing that the brain is the science of the past, today and surely tomorrow, we tried to go deeper into the field of brain research, that is, to become an expert in this field. “
According to the vice-rector, the global goal is to place Armenia on the world scientific map.
“We started thinking about creating a Center for Excellence in Brain Research. It is not only having a beautiful hall, it is not only having modern equipment, it is not only having separate scientists. It is the combination of all these, which, in the end, gives the desired result, acceptable to the international community. We understood that in this way we had to start applying to international structures. “We applied to the” HORIZON-2020 “program and we won,” Konstantin Yenkoyan emphasizes.
During the report, the Vice-Rector of the Medical University introduced the “COBRAINE” program, YSMU partner universities – the universities of Germany (Bonn \u0587 Tubingen), Sweden (Lund), where Armenian specialists also work.
“Now we are working on the establishment of a scientific-educational center for basic brain research. We are creating a rather serious infrastructure, “Konstantin Yenkoyan assured, emphasizing that the medical university has made a large investment in the construction of the center.
During the report, the Vice-Rector also spoke about another “SCOUT” program, which is one of the unique research projects funded by “HORIZON-2020” implemented in Armenia. Rapid progress to Innovation as part of the operation, the research team should be able to determine the effectiveness of the new Ser-Col blood sampling equipment for a variety of diagnostic purposes.
It should be remembered that Armenia, represented by the Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, was recognized as the winner of the “HORIZON-2020 Twinning” program for the first time under the “COBRAINE” project.
Receiving the official letter from the European Commission stating that “COBRAIN: Armenia Center for Translational Research on Chronic Neurodegenerative Disorders: A Neuroscience Initiative on Maintaining Healthy Brain Aging” won the HORIZON 2020 program – 96.6% of the maximum possible points,the medical university became its coordinator.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
