Yerevan State Medical University gave not only professional knowledge, but also a lot of experience to its Indian graduate Rohith Sharan Sankaran.<\/p>\n
25-year-old\u00a0 future researcher has graduated from the faculty of General Medicine in the class of 2020.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy mother is a doctor and professor of physiology. And my father is a lawyer working with cases related to the medical field. You can see from where my motivation to be a doctor originates. Even my brother is a medical student in Armenia. I can say my family is full of medical professionals. I have seen how medical treatment changes the life of the patient, improving his health and, most importantly, the moral of the individuals\u2019 life. Few professions have a direct impact on people\u2019s lives but the profession of a doctor is the noblest of all\u201d, Rohith says.<\/p>\n
Armenia, according to him, is well known among doctors in India, and in recent years the medical education in Armenia seems to gain popularity among Indian students who want to get an MD. \u201cYSMU has the reputation of producing quality doctors who work all over the world. Many graduates from YSMU are successful in this noble field, and YSMU has been my primary choice since I started to look for medical universities to pursue medical education after high school\u201d, Rohith notes.<\/p>\n
When he first came here, he thought Armenia was defined by its beautiful nature and biblical Mount Ararat. \u201cBut, after living here for six years, I will say it\u2019s the friendliness and welcoming nature of the Armenian people that defines Armenia. I used to say Yerevan is the most student-friendly city to be living and studying, and I still stand by my point. I have lived and studied in four countries, but Armenia is my favorite destination to be in\u201d, the future doctor says. In the last five years, he adds, Yerevan has drastically become globalized, and the lifestyle is very much comparable to western countries, only – more peaceful and calm.<\/p>\n
\u201cYSMU has given me the education to be a competent professional in today\u2019s medical field and prepared me with the ability to adapt to what the future brings\u201d, – Rohith emphasizes.<\/p>\n
Referring to future plans in the professional field, he says that he always wanted to be a teacher and a researcher in the medical field. \u201cI would be choosing a career that allows me to be teaching and preparing future medical doctors and healthcare professionals. The lecturers at YSMU have always inspired me by their dedication to teaching students. I owe them all my achievements I will attain by being a teacher\u201d, he notes.<\/p>\n
Rohith would very much like to stay and work in Armenia. He is sure he will definitely come back to Armenia and be a part of YSMU. \u201cI assure I will not forget what Armenia has done for me all these years, and I will look for opportunities to return the favor to the country and its people\u201d, he adds.<\/p>\n
A good doctor, from his point of view, should be determined and committed. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter what specialty you choose or what field of medicine you go later on; you make a difference in the lives of people\u201d, Rohith says.<\/p>\n
He advises future doctors to be sincere in what they do. \u201cSee your teachers like your friends. Show your interest in learning, and I am sure that the teachers at YSMU will go the extra mile more than they are required to teach you. Try to learn as much as possible during the student years, but keep in mind that there is no full stop in learning, particularly, in the medical field. There is something newly discovered every day, and researches will never cease to exist until mankind exists\u201d, Rohith Sharan Sankaran concludes, adding that YSMU is not just a university but an incredible experience.<\/p>\n
