It’s very important for a good doctor to have patience and commitment. Dilpreet Kaur, a 20-year-old student of the Faculty of General Medicine of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, shares her story of becoming a student of YSMU. Dilpreet was born in the Southern part of India in Kerala, Kochi. Telling about how she decided to become a doctor, the student says: «I have loved interacting with different people since childhood.<\/p>\n
I always wanted to experience emotions and thought processes of different people personally and help them through their mental health. I always knew since the age of 14 that I wanted to become a Psychiatrist. My parents and my sister have been very supportive with my dream and intensively supported me in making this come true». Dilpreet had a friend who had been a medical student in YSMU. «She helped me reach to the University and get the admissions done. And I am so happy to be studying in Armenia now. Everything’s great. Weather is clear and awesome. Food is good. Country is safe and peaceful. People are interactive. I love the variety of tea and eatable seeds in Armenia», the student tells. Life in Yerevan, she continues, was a bit challenging in the beginning. «But now it's like my second home. Everything settled down so easily and quickly. I am grateful for that», Dilpreet adds. Expressing her satisfaction with YSMU education, she emphasizes: «I should say the teachers are very cooperative in YSMU. They teach in English and are always ready to take our doubts».<\/p>\n
Among various medical professions Dilpreet will be choosing Psychiatry or, maybe, Gynecology in the future. Dilpreet is sure: she would love to stay and work in Armenia. Knowledge and attentiveness, according to her, are important. «But if one is good at heart and a good listener, he\/she can become a very good doctor. It’s very important for a doctor to have patience and commitment», she emphasizes. To her fellow students and future doctors Dilpreet advises to run for knowledge, not for grades. «I am thankful for the past years spent in Armenia and looking forward to more good ones. University is amazing, and it’s a good opportunity for all to study General Medicine abroad», Dilpreet concludes.<\/p>\n
