Within the framework of the SAFEMED+ project of the European Union, the summit of the ERASMUS+ program was held in the Italian city of Catania. The meeting was attended by the representatives of numerous universities from different European countries.
\nThe specialists of Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi – Maritsa Efremidu, Assistant of the Department of Internal Diseases (Rheumatology), Rheumatologist of the Rheumatology Service, and Davit Arazyan, the lecturer of the 3rd Department of Surgery, also took part in the event.
\nThe members of the Armenian delegation were welcomed by Francesco Priolo, the Rector of the University of Catania; Pietro Castellino, the Head of the Medical School; and Maria Angela Sortino and Alessandro Capellani, the Heads of the Departments of Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences, General Surgery and Medical-Surgical Specialties.
\nThe participants of the three-day initiative visited the University Hospital “Rodolico-San Marco” in Catania.
\nIt should be noted that within the framework of the SAFEMED+ project, the external partners of the Medical University are the Tbilisi Medical Academy, the Tbilisi State Medical University (Georgia), the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), the University of Catania (Italy), the University of Vilnius (Lithuania), the Higher State Educational Institution of Ukraine Bukovina State Medical University (Ukraine), Ternopil National Medical University of Ivan Horbachevsky of Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
\nThe SAFEMED+ project is implemented within the framework of the ERASMUS+ program and is funded by the European Commission.
\nThe aim of the project is to improve the quality of medical education in Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine by implementing a skills-based program reform of medical education, including the implementation of OSCE-Objective Structural Clinical Exams, as well as to replenish the medical simulation equipment of educational simulation centers of universities.
\nThe project is coordinated by the Tbilisi Medical Academy, and European partners provide a consistent approach based on broad management experience and help standardize procedures, tools and skills.
\nThe implementation of the SAFEMED+ project is one of the most important factors in the process of internationalization of the university.<\/p>\n
