Another scientific experiment was held at the “COBRAIN” Scientific and Educational Center for Basic Brain Research of YSMU.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to Hamlet Torosyan, a laboratory assistant at the Center, the experimental animal’s brain was disconnected by decapitation.<\/p>\n

“The aim of the experiment is to isolate brain tissue and further cultivate nerve cells. In other words, a cell culture will be created from the cells that we will get from the brain tissue removed by us,” Hamlet Torosyan said, emphasizing that the animal is euthanized in accordance with all international ethical standards and protocols.<\/p>\n

Gohar Karapetyan, a junior researcher at the “COBRAIN” center, explained that the purpose of the experiment was to obtain a neuronal cell culture on which Alzheimer’s type neurodegeneration will be modeled.<\/p>\n

“In general, cellular models are suitable for studying the effect of an impact factor and the direct response of the cell that is induced by it. We are studying the role of monocytes in the process of neurodegeneration of Alzheimer’s type. We are trying to understand to what extent monocytes are involved in the “cleaning” process of beta-amyloid accumulated in the brain, which is one of the causes of the disease,” Gohar Karapetyan explained.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
