The working week at YSMU concluded with the final 18th \u201cTraining of Trainers\u201d (ToTs) session of the \u201cHENAR\u201d Foundation\u2019s Health Care Specialists Education Program, which was followed by the graduation ceremony for the first-year participants.<\/p>\n
Garnik Avetisyan, YSMU Vice-Rector for Postgraduate and Continuing Education. welcomed all participants on behalf of the Rector, the University, and himself, emphasizing that the educational program is innovative in terms of new approaches and format.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to thank our partners at Boston University, all those people who supported the implementation of this program, which is not our first joint program, and given such good results, I can confidently say that it will not be the last. I am grateful to everyone for participating in these very important courses after busy working days,\u201d Garnik Avetisyan noted, adding that the transfer of knowledge during these 9 months was in line with international standards.<\/p>\n
The Vice-Rector assured that both these and other initiatives aim to raise the level of educational programs, strengthening the University’s position in the international market.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by Arman Voskerchyan, co-founder of the “HENAR” Foundation, colleagues from Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine, participants of the ToTs program, and MSHPE students Hripsime Apresyan, Alvard Hovhannisyan and Suren Brutyan, who will soon travel to Boston to participate in 6-week training courses at Boston University School of Medicine. The course will allow participants to deepen their experience, get acquainted directly with the international educational environment and, upon returning, localize this experience in Armenia.<\/p>\n
“This program is not just an educational course for us. It is a new approach to the development of postgraduate medical education in Armenia. It is especially important because it is aimed not only at the development of individual specialists, but also at the development of educational capabilities. During these months, the participants have become familiar with and applied modern teaching methods, principles of curriculum development, assessment approaches, feedback culture and new forms of learning in the clinical environment\u201d, Arman Voskerchyan said, adding that one of the most important impacts of this initiative was that it contributed to a change in the mindset of teaching: from an approach to transferring knowledge to the development of capabilities, active learning, assessment and a supportive educational environment.<\/p>\n
In recognition of YSMU\u2019s support and active involvement in the program, Arman Voskerchyan presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Garnik Avetisyan.<\/p>\n
