Since November 30, 2017 Yackov Berkun, Head of Pediatric Department at Hadassah Mount Scopus, Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center, has become Visiting Professor of Medical Genetics at Yerevan State Medical University.
Yackov Berkun received his medical education at the Hebrew University, Hadassah Medical School. Then he passed his residency in Pediatrics at Bikur Cholim Hospital, then he became fellow in Clinical Immunology and Allergology at Hadassah University Hospital, Jerusalem.
During different periods of professional career, Dr. Berkun worked in the most famous hospitals in Jerusalem. Together with clinical work Yackov Berkun gave lectures in Pediatrics at Hadassah School of Medicine, Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University. He directed the Civil Defense Emergency Operations at Bikur Cholim Hospital. From 2000 to 2004 Dr. Berkun was Attending Senior Physician at the Department of Pediatrics; Rheumatology and Immunology Clinic, Bikur Cholim Hospital; Immunology Clinic, Hadassah University Hospital, from 2003 to 2004 he was the head of Clinical Immunology and Allergology Unit, Bikur Cholim Hospital, from 2004 to 2011 Attending Senior physician at Department of Pediatrics, FMF and Rheumatology Clinic, Safra Childrens Hospital, Chaim Sheba Medical Center, 2007-2009 he served as Deputy Director at Safra Childrens Hospital, Chaim Sheba Medical Center, and since 2011 he is the Head of Pediatric Department, Hadassah Mount Scopus, Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center.
Yackov Berkun is a member of many international and local unions and associations. Dr. Berkun made a speech in numerous international conferences and his articles were published in the world’s most famous journals.
