Students Participated in the Summer School Organized by Westlake University, China

Students of Yerevan State Medical University participated in the two-week summer school titled “Frontiers in Natural Sciences,” organized by Westlake University, China.

Arpi Mkrtchyan, a 5th-year student of the Faculty of General Medicine, and Hamlet Khachatryan, a 3rd-year student of the “I Have the Honor” program, represented YSMU in the international program.

The aim of the program was to bring together 149 students from 25 countries under one roof, fostering an environment for collaborative learning, international exchange of experience, and the development of knowledge and skills in the field of natural sciences.

The event covered key areas of modern science, including oncology, immunology, molecular biology and genetics, structural biochemistry, coronavirus studies, and neurodegenerative diseases.

During the summer school, the YSMU students attended lectures delivered by distinguished professors from Westlake University, the University of Toronto, Yale, Stanford, the University of Chicago, the University of California, San Diego, and other leading institutions.

They also took part in laboratory sessions, became acquainted with the university campus infrastructure, and participated in cultural and educational excursions throughout the city of Hangzhou.

The future doctors emphasized that it was a great honor to represent Armenia and their medical alma mater on such an international platform.

According to them, the knowledge and skills gained at YSMU played a crucial role, enabling them to demonstrate high levels of engagement and activity throughout the program, as well as to familiarize themselves with the latest achievements and trends in modern science.
