The establishment of the Center for Excellence in Dental Education ensures the realization of the main goal of the program, which is to train competitive specialists in the field of dentistry in accordance with international standards.

The Center contributes to the increase of the quality and efficiency of higher dental education, which is a completely new level for the application of theoretical knowledge in the educational process of the university.

The educational Center carries out its activities in line with YSMU inter-nationalization policy. The  Center has the opportunity to serve about two hundred students a day.

The introduction of this important educational program  has a psychological component, too. It allows prospective professionals to develop practical skills in the preclinical phase before working in clinics. According to it, the introduction of such innovative skills in dental education in both undergraduate and postgraduate, as well as in continuing education phases, allows students to develop practical skills, to minimize the number of medical errors in professional activities.

In order to make the best use of the opportunities of the established Center in the educational process, the creation of appropriate educational content has also been carried out.

Armenian-language teaching manuals in four professional subjects: pediatric, orthopedic, surgical and therapeutic dentistry have been worked out,  written and published. The five published manuals, in contrast to the current literature existing and used at  the  university before that , fully include and combine the necessary professional material within the requirements of a unified methodology, being the result of collective work.

In order to ensure the best result of the introduction of the best practice and reforms, the Center already conducts training courses for future and currently functioning doctors by internationally recognized experts, the best teaching staff of YSMU, organizes mutual visits of specialists, trainings, international olympiads, master classes.

It should be noted that during the opening ceremony of the Center for Excellence in Dental Education, by the decision of the YSMU Academic Council, participants of the first Armenian-American Congress Niraj Khanna, Paul Mezerkhan from the USA  and Samvel Apresyan from Russia were awarded the title of Visiting Professor of the University. The President of the International Federation of Dentistry, Catherine Kelly, was awarded the YSMU Gold Medal, and the Elected President of the same Federation, Gerhard Sieberger, was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the University. It should be noted that in 2018-2022 the Center received many guests from abroad, as well as authorities  of the Republic of Armenia, school children from different regions of the Republic of Armenia, pupils of  Heratsi School, etc.
