Cardiological Conference towards the World Heart Day

World Heart Day is celebrated on September 27 . The Yerevan Cardiology Forum 2018 three-day international conference took place on September 27 at YSMU administrative building. Dozens of international professors from the world’s leading countries were present at the Second International Cardiologists’ Conference in Yerevan.

YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan, in a conversation with journalists mentioned that the three-day conference is dedicated to cardiovascular diseases. According to him, it is noteworthy that YSMU graduates, who work in the leading clinics of the world to connect our country’s healthcare system with the European, American and Russian hospital network, are participating in this international conference. He emphasized that in recent years great steps have been taken to introduce new methods of prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and provide access to cardiology services. He outlined the “Stent for Life” program for emergency cardiac surgeries. The Rector informed that YSMU is implementing projects aimed at involving young professionals in the international university network. He also added that not only in Armenia, but also abroad Diaspora partners had a significant contribution to the development of cardiology and the formation of cardiology school.

According to the participants, the second international cardiac conference in Yerevan can provide new information in key areas of cardiovascular medicine. The speed and prevalence of medical technology change has many practical relationships with clinical skills, health care organizations and the development of modern technology. Cardiology has progressively developed over the last 30 years. Studies around the globe aim to identify new pathophysiological mechanisms, provide new pharmacological approaches, update technology approaches to achieve clinical success and increase lifespan in patients with cardiovascular deseases. Head of the Department of Cardiology, Head of the General and Invasive Cardiology Clinic of No 1 Heratsi University Hospital, Hmayak Sisakyan welcomed the guests with a detailed report on current issues, successes and activities in the field of cardiology in Armenia. According to him, Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi is well known in the field of cardiology with its good traditions, as well as in the training of qualified cardiologists all over the world. He thanked the graduates of the university for their active involvement in the event, which can serve as a new platform for cooperation with our university.

On behalf of the university, the Professor thanked the leading experts in cardiological teams in major European and US centers for supporting this event. Hmayak Sisakyan also touched upon the main mission of the clinic managed by him in the university complex, such as the reduction of mortality and hospitalization, improving the life quality of people with cardiovascular diseases, the use of new methods of treatment and technology, as well as improving the education level. Hamayak Sisakyan emphasized that YSMU is actually the only educational institution that prepares cardiologists for the country’s healthcare system. Therefore, the university specialists are responsible for the training of qualified and up-to-date specialists. It should be noted that renowned doctors are present at the three-day conference: President of the Association of Cardiologists of Europe, Professor Panos Vardas, Professor Stepan Anker from Berlin, Zlatko Fras from Ljubljana and our compatriots from abroad Armen Ter-Akopyan, Knarik Arkun, Babken Asatryan, Vahagn Ohanyan and many others. The specialists presented interesting reports about topical issues of cardiology and shared their professional experience. The conference will sum up the works on September 29.
