The meeting, organized by representatives of the “Keron” Development Foundation and Yerevan State Medical University, was dedicated to the process and further steps of the large-scale transformation program of the YSMU library.
“It is a long-awaited meeting. We have great expectations from the library. Both students and employees are enthusiastic. We see the active work of the builders,” YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan noted.
Vanane Ararktsyan, Executive Director of the “Keron” Development Foundation, spoke about the fundraising initiative launched by the foundation on the reArmenia platform in June of this year and aimed at the large-scale reconstruction program of the library, emphasizing that every donation is valued and appreciated.
Looking back on the nearly two-year history of cooperation with YSMU within the framework of the library transformation, she noted that this was one of the first approved projects of the foundation. In her opinion, in this case the name of the library is narrower, and the idea of calling it by another name was also jointly discussed: the educational platform option reflects all the modern requirements that the reconstructed environment will be equipped with.
She informed those present about the upcoming large-scale event in Paris, which will be the foundation’s first overseas event and during which funds will be raised.
As is known, the architectural solutions of the project were developed by the Dutch DVDP architectural firm specializing in the library sector, which has extensive international experience in the design of educational and research environments.
Chief architect and executive director Peter Defesche, representing the Defesche van den Putte (DVDP) company, expressed confidence that the new library space under construction will keep pace with the times and fulfill the educational goals and desires of generations studying medicine.
