University students at the 12th International Conference “EU Safety 2025”

Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi was presented with 3 research papers at the 12th International Conference “EU Safety 2025” “Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion” held in Heraklion, Crete, on October 1-2.

Hamlet Torosyan, the President of the Student Scientific Society, a laboratory assistant at the “COBRAIN” Center and a graduate of the university, drew the attention of the conference to traumatic brain injuries (TBI), spinal cord injuries (SCI), and regional disparities in trauma care. Eleonora Sargsyants, a 5th-year student of the Faculty of General Medicine, Vice-President of the Student Scientific Society, touched upon the e-scooter riding behavior in Yerevan; and the work of Vahagn Petrosyan, a 6th-year student of the same faculty, concerned childhood poisoning in Armenia: causes, parental influence and medical outcomes.

The young specialists participated in the event under the coordination of Artashes Tadevosyan, Head of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Organization. According to him, within the framework of the “iCreate” program, students conduct research on the topic of safety and violence prevention every year. According to him, the mentioned conferences are held every 2 years. “For six years, our students have been presenting their works. The previous meeting was in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, the year before last. This year we received a very great response in that 3 students and 3 works were presented only from Armenia,” Artashes Tadevosyan emphasized.
