80-100 new cases of childhood cancer are registered annually in Armenia. The most common are leukemias, followed by brain tumors, lymphomas, bone tumors, neuroblastoma, etc.
According to the World Health Organization, 80% of children with cancer – 4 out of 5 patients -are recovering in high-income countries, while in low-income countries, an average of 20% of children are recovering, that is – 1 out of 5 patients.
Armenia, being among the low and middle-income countries, is close to developed countries: according to pediatric oncology data, 70-75% of children with cancer recover in our country.
