On April 18-20, Yerevan State Medical University hosted the first conference titled “Heart Failure Spring School” for senior and mid-level medical workers․
During the important scientific event, specialists from the Clinic of Cardiology and Angiology of the University Hospital of Magdeburg, Germany; and the Clinic of Cardiology of the “Heratsi” number 1 Hospital Complex of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, held lectures, as well as practical work was carried out.
Every fifth person over the age of 70 has heart failure. The conference is dedicated to the development of solutions to this problem, as it is actual all over the world.
According to Prof. Dr. med. Rüdiger Christian Braun-Dullaeus, Chief of the Clinic of Cardiology and Angiology, University Hospital Magdeburg; it’s an honor to be in Yerevan and participate at the first joint spring school on heart disease. The Professor transmitted the warmest wishes from the Rector of University of Magdeburg and from State Minister of Saxony-Unhalt. “They appreciate our partnership very much. We together set up for heart diseases. You might know that Saxony-Unhalt, which is a state of Germany, and Yerevan had a cultural agreement. So, they are very proud and very much looking forward to our partnership”, he emphasized.
Heart diseases, through his words, lead to heart failure more and more. “And this is what our partnership is about – to discuss how to better prevent and treat heart diseases. It’s interesting to discuss the different approaches of different countries. But, for sure, we all work here on an international level. So, when 4 years ago we met for the first time in Yerevan, it was for student partnership and exchange, meanwhile we were able to set up this international clinical partnership on heart diseases which is supported by the German Society for International Cooperation. Again, we are very much happy to be here and for sure this is going to be a fantastic event”, Rüdiger Christian Braun-Dullaeus noted.
YSMU Rector, Prof. Armen Muradyan welcomed the attendees, German colleagues, emphasizing the scientific nature of the event. “I should especially mention that our multi-year works, the core of which are the graduates of the university and which played a particularly big role for this cooperation, are moving to a new stage. I am sure that as a result of today’s discussion, each of you will improve the results in your daily work, raise the issues that concern and tire each of us in our scientific practice. I am glad that this conference is held at the university, which has been carrying out large-scale internationalization activities in recent years. There is global medical science, and the Medical University became a key part of it,” the Rector assured, expressing his belief that these activities would be fruitful for the participants.
Prof. Dr. Hamayak Sisakyan, Head of Clinic of General and Invasive Cardiology, “Heratsi” University Hospital №1, Yerevan State Medical University, said that heart failure was also a huge burden on the health care system due to frequent and prolonged hospitalizations, which is why the whole world is focused on solving these problems.
It should be noted that the cooperation of the Medical University with the University of Magdeburg had a long history, and the continuation of this collaboration is of particular importance for YSMU.
