On April 28, “Muratsan” University Hospital hosted Federico Vigevano, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, Head of the Department of Developmental Age Disabilities Department of the San Raffaele Institute in Rome.
The distinguished professor’s working visit began with a presentation of the capabilities of the children’s medical institution, followed by a discussion of complex clinical cases and patient consultations.
According to Khachatur Margaryan, Vice-Rector for Development and Marketing of YSMU, the hospitals of the medical university carry out not only therapeutic but also educational activities.
“During tours and patient consultations, we also attach importance to the participation of our clinical residents and senior students in such visits. This provides several opportunities: first, to become a participant in the best world experience, to communicate with the best specialists, and in addition, to find stylistic differences between schools in patient management,” the Vice-Rector emphasized.
According to Hripsime Apresyan, the chief physician of the “Muratsan” hospital complex, visits of foreign colleagues are always of serious importance for university hospitals in terms of educational, therapeutic and scientific work.
The three-day working visit of Italian Professor Federico Vigevano to our country was not the first; years ago, he participated in the epilepsy course held in Armenia.
“I think this is the onset of our cooperation in the field of pediatric neurological diseases and epilepsy. Both in Armenia and Italy, patients have the same problems, but here the approaches and technical capabilities, the constant monitoring of patients are more important. Perhaps, it is necessary to increase the possibility of conducting genetic and neuroradiological tests,” the Professor emphasized.
Federico Vigevano’s lecture was devoted to developmental and epileptic encephalopathy.
