Following the example of the world’s best universities, Yerevan State Medical University, with the support of the “Keron” Development Foundation, will have a library complex that meets international standards.
Active processes have begun to implement this large-scale initiative. The foundation’s team, led by Executive Director Vanane Ararktsyan, along with Dutch architects Jeff van den Putte and Peter Defesche, representing Defesche van den Putte (DVDP), toured the university with Vice-Rector for Postgraduate and Continuing Education Garnik Avetisyan, Head of the Career Center Khachatur Margaryan, and other responsible figures. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the areas designated for renovation, gather detailed information about these spaces before construction begins, and discuss various work-related points.
During their second visit to the medical university, the architects from abroad, along with their Armenian colleagues (including three students from the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia), became familiar with the building’s structure, entrance and exit points, and other technical requirements.
Every detail has been taken into account in this major project by the foundation to create a high-quality educational environment and student space, from natural lighting to safety concerns, student flow, and comfort.
The tour was followed by a meeting with YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan, during which architect Peter Defesche presented the final concept of the future library. After listening to the experienced architect, Armen Muradyan made specific observations and suggestions, which, after an interactive discussion, were approved. This will allow the construction project to be further refined and perfected.
Upcoming meetings and consultations with the “Keron” Foundation, based on international experience, will gradually make the important initiative of having a modernized library a reality.
