This year, 790 graduates of the century-old medical university will join the ranks of the “white army”, carrying out a difficult and selfless mission to heal people and save lives.
“Today we once again have the honor to declare with responsibility that we are the creators of medicine – the most humane, most noble profession that can never be called an activity, this is a vocation,” YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan said, opening the session of the Scientific Council. Graduates, according to him, are entering a big and responsible life, where exams and tests, attendance and absenteeism will be replaced by the obligation to always be present and pass the exam with excellent marks.
“In your hands will be human lives, health, distorted fates or happy, grateful eyes. Be bold in spreading your knowledge, even if it is faced with brute and irresistible force. Be healthy to make others healthy. Your problems should not be available to your patients. They should see a cheerful and purposeful spirit in you,” the head of the medical university emphasized, adding that today’s generation of university alumni, in addition to academic exams, also went through the challenge and test of the pandemic and war.
The ceremonial meeting of the Scientific Council of the Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi was marked by the adoption of the Hippocratic Oath by the graduates.
383 students of the Faculty of General Medicine, 157 students – of Stomatology, 36 students – of Pharmacy, 199 students of the Dean's office of international students, as well as 15 cadets of the Faculty of Military Medicine graduated from the university.
The graduation party ended with cheerful performances by the musical group Hayat Project.
