"The Pharmacist's Formula for Success": Vrouyr Bilemjian

Vrouyr Bilemjian, a young and promising pharmacist, graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi in 2016.

Pharmacist, according to him, has a diverse and rich career. “There is an ongoing demand for pharmacists throughout the world, with opportunities for patient care, scientific research and innovation. Pharmacists play key leadership roles in all aspects of the healthcare system.

Developing new drugs through advanced technological methods and working in research and development were the major motives which made me to choose this profession”, he tells.

Currently he is pursuing his Doctoral studies (PhD) in the field of cancer immunology and immunotherapeutics, is working within the I-DireCT consortium between Germany (Surflay Nanotec GmbH) and Netherlands (University of Groningen). I-DireCT, pharmacist informs, is a Marie Curie European Industrial Doctorate (EID) funded by the European Union within the H2020 Programme. The project aims to especially promote the exchange between the academic and the non-academic sector.

“Having a growth mindset, being a lifelong learner and open for new challenges and opportunities are the key factors which helped me to get where I am now. Additionally, critical and analytical thinking skills, good communication skills, Multi-Tasker and being patience are some of the important traits pharmacists need to possess in order to succeed both personally and professionally”, Vrouyr Bilemjian emphasizes.

As pharmacists play key leadership roles in all aspects of the healthcare system, according to him, Yerevan State Medical University played a major role in preparing leaders for 50 years, and will remain to educate and enlighten students for hundreds of years. “My biggest wish for the Faculty of Pharmacy is to focus more on research and development and encourage students to be engaged more in science and technology as those are the key aspects for sustainable future and developed country”, Vrouyr Bilemjian concludes.
