With the efforts of the Student Parliament’s Educational and Methodological Committee and after extensive preparatory work, the “Formula for an Effective Lecturer” student conference was held at the Medical University. During the conference the results of the previously conducted research were presented.
The participants tried to identify the key features that shape the image of an effective lecturer, uniting the expectations of students and the professional understanding of the teaching community on one level.
“What shapes the image of an effective lecturer in medical education: knowledge, methods, or the person himself?” In order to answer this question, a quantitative study was conducted, comparing the perceptions of students and lecturers. The research was participated by lecturers and students of YSMU.
The results showed that the perception of the image of an effective lecturer is not unambiguous: a number of contrasts and common overlapping directions were revealed, which emphasize the key priorities of modern medical education.
At the end of the conference, a panel discussion was held on the topic “The Effective Lecturer at YSMU: From Student-Lecturer Expectations to Educational Policy”.
