On September 22, within the framework of the 4th International Medical Conference “In Pursuit of Excellence,” Armen Muradyan, Rector of Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) named after Mkhitar Heratsi, hosted Berj Apkarian, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Fresno and Honorary Professor of YSMU.
In addition to the three-day event that kicked off at the Medical University, and other matters of cooperation, the University Head and the guest discussed preparatory work for the Armenian Medical World Congress (AMWC-2027), scheduled to take place in Yerevan from July 8 to 10 of next year.
Speaking about Berj Abkarian’s involvement in the upcoming congress, the Rector expressed confidence that these efforts would open up broader horizons for our young specialists, and help establish Yerevan as a global center of medical science. He is convinced that the Honorary Consul will effectively facilitate the participation of a distinguished group of physicians—not limited to Armenians alone.
The congress has a significant “compatriot” dimension: it aims to enable Armenian medical professionals working in clinics around the world to engage leading experts in their fields and bring them to Yerevan, where they will present reports and participate in clinical case discussions.
In the near future, the key areas of cooperation, objectives, and expected outcomes will be finalized in consultation with Armenian colleagues based in the USA.
