01/09/2025In the 2025–2026 academic year, 709 first-year students joined the large “Heratsi” family across the Faculties of General Medicine, Stomatology, Pharmacy, and Military Medicine. Opening its doors to the new cohort, Armenia’s premier medical institution welcomed the students as they embarked on the challenging yet noble journey of becoming physicians.
In the courtyard of Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi, at the “Green Zone” student area, a solemn ceremony was held to welcome the newly admitted first-year students.
The leadership of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, represented by Yervand Sahakyan, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and External Relations; and Khachatur Margaryan, Vice-Rector for Development and Marketing; attended the festive event dedicated to the 79th anniversary of India’s independence on August 15.
The week ended with the solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas to international graduates. According to Gayane Avetisyan, Head of the International Students’ Academic Affairs Department; the day is special, as graduates are awarded diplomas, and they have received a profession thanks to continuous work.
On July 21, Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) hosted the ESO-OncoDaily Educational Workshop in Breast and GI Oncology, aimed at promoting the exchange of practical knowledge and collaboration among specialists in various fields of oncology.
The end of the academic year and the last session of the Scientific Council of this semester were solemn. July 9 was marked by the traditional event of the professional oath of graduates at the Medical University.
The 14th Armenian Medical World Congress (AMWC) held at the initiative of the Armenian Medical International Committee (AMIC) from July 3-5 has kicked off at Complutense University of Madrid under the motto: “Medicine in Motion: Turning Scientific Insights into Action”.
