The start of the 2026-2027 academic year was announced at the Мedical University with a beautiful event dedicated to the first-year students.
As of today, 588 first-year students have joined the large family of the Medical University.
“Dear first-year students, dear college students, dear lecturers, dear guests, today is a significant day for us. Our “Heratsi” family is growing with new members – people who, years from now, will be able to comfort, heal, empathize, and become worthy members of society. I especially value the role and place of doctors in our country.
Today, for the first time you wear these white coats, symbolizing your belonging to the “Heratsi” family. This is both a great privilege and a tremendous responsibility. This means that in your future lives, this responsibility will dictate exceptional skills and modern academic knowledge, compassion, and discipline,” YSMU Rector, Professor Armen Muradyan emphasized. “While paying tribute to our teachers, we attach great importance to our future. You must appreciate this atmosphere, your teachers, and those people who, over the course of a century, created a medical white army for our people, as well as for the peoples of distant lands. During the epidemic that occurred several years ago, this university, with its doctors and daily work, stood firmly by the people’s side. These people, through both small and great deeds, were able to become healers, comforters, people who, with their kindness and compassion, humanity, and deep responsibility to society, were able to complement our society and shape today a key, important part of our intelligentsia—medicine,” the Rector of the Medical University noted, congratulating the first-year students and wishing them all the best.
Representatives of the university then answered numerous questions from newcomers regarding the educational process in the classrooms. Karine Baroyan, Dean of the Faculty of General Medicine; Lazar Yesayan, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; Bagrat Yenokyan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Vardan Tsaturyan, Head of the Faculty of Military Medicine; Vahe Ayvazyan, Director of YSMU College; and other staff responsible for the educational process welcomed the first-year students. They presented a detailed, step-by-step list of subjects taught to first-year students, as well as the exam schedule. A number of issues related to discipline, rights and responsibilities were discussed.
In addition to knowledge, the Medical University also places great importance on the human qualities necessary for choosing this humanitarian profession.
Dear first-year students, you will soon become familiar with the “Green Benches” section, where the event took place, as well as other university facilities and buildings. The white coat you wear today is more than just a symbol of the medical profession: it is a symbol of knowledge, responsibility, dedication, and a desire to help people. Today a new and important path opens before you, full of knowledge, new discoveries, friends and wonderful memories.
