YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan hosted the 1975 graduates of the University, Rita Sulahyan-Kouyumjian, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University of Canada, and Zhirayr Kouyumjian, Professor of the Departments of Family Healthcare and Gerontology of the same university.
During the meeting, willingness to deepen inter-university cooperation was emphasized.
The guests presented the innovative program for the improvement of the educational system proposed by Professor emeritus of McGill University, Jacques Bradwein, which was successfully implemented at Shanghai University.
“If this program gets realized in Armenia, our university will become a healthcare center for the entire region,” Zhirayr Kouyumjian stated.
Armen Muradyan emphasized: “We also have a great desire to become a leading scientific and educational university. Despite the difficult situation, we continue to provide medical education export. There are as many foreign students studying at YSMU as in all Armenian universities combined.”
According to the Rector of the Medical University, students coming to the capital from different countries have the opportunity to get quality education at the Medical University.
It should be noted that Rita Sulahyan-Kouyumjian is known as the author of the book “In the Origins of Madness. Komitas. Portrait of an Armenian Idol.” The author dedicated it to the unknown scenes of the life and soul experiences of the famous armenian composer, musician, armenian scholar Komitas.
