As a result of the association of pediatric hemorrhagic services of Children’s oncological clinic and Children’s Cancer Center of “Muratsan” YSMU, a Center for Pediatric Cancer and Blood Diseases will be established in the professor R.Yolyan’s Hematology Center. According to the director of the Hematology Center, Samvel Danielyan, the forces uniting efforts aim to concentrate on pediatric cancer treatment in one place. “The association will make our efforts more effective in this regard. This initiative is important for doctors as well as for sick children. The combination of forces always has a positive impact, “said the director of the center, adding that the results of the association will also be focused on international relations and benefactors’ activity.
YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan notes that, if combined with such services, qualitative problems will be easier to solve. “The association will first of all improve the quality of educational programs, as a result of which international medical education will be enriched with Armenian innovations,” said YSMU Rector.
The doctors of “Muratsan” hospital are also YSMU lecturers, which means that the center will also be attended by students, residency patients, scientific research will be carried out. Samvel Danielyan, referring to the number of diseases, noted that about 70 out of 100 children with cancer are recovering. In Armenia there are 80 to 100 cases of pediatric cancer per year. The most common types are leukemia (about 35%), and then headaches and lymphomas.
It should be noted that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mrs. Anna Hakobyan, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the City of Charity Foundation and the participants of the International Children’s Oncology Congress visited the Center and got acquainted with the conditions. High-ranking officials, doctors and public figures were present at the opening ceremony.
