New Programs and International Initiatives on the Agenda of YSMU and HENAR Foundation Cooperation

YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan, joined by the University’s Vice-Rectors, held a working meeting with Arman Voskerchyan, co-founder of the HENAR Foundation, and Yelena Abovyan, the foundation’s Executive Director.

The Medical University has a history of effective collaboration with the HENAR Foundation spanning approximately three years.

Specifically, this concerns the Master’s in Health Professions Education (MSHPE) program—a joint initiative of the HENAR Foundation and the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine at Boston University—the graduation and award ceremony for the first year of which took place in late September. The program provided university participants with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with modern educational approaches and to subsequently apply the experience gained within the medical education process.

Given the importance of strengthening cooperation between YSMU, the HENAR Foundation, and partner organizations—as well as advancing medical education in Armenia—these very topics took center stage in today’s discussion.

Rector Armen Muradyan emphasized that, beyond joint programs, the University and the Foundation share a common system of values; the initiatives being implemented are aimed at carrying out professional training and other educational endeavors grounded in these shared values.

Arman Voskerchyan, co-founder of the HENAR Foundation, noted the need to implement joint programs—particularly in the field of family medicine—and proposed developing a roadmap to further deepen this collaboration. The foundation’s team received an invitation to participate in the Armenian Medical World Congress-2027.

At the suggestion of the Head of the Medical University—who will preside over the event taking place in Yerevan next July—HENAR will have the opportunity to host a panel discussion focused on international experience in medical education. Arman Voskerchyan expressed his readiness to accept the proposal. He is also a graduate of YSMU, having completed his studies in the former Faculty of Pediatrics.
