The start of the transformation and modernization of YSMU library has been given

The solemn event held by Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi and the “Keron” Development Foundation today was dedicated to the launch of the transformation and modernization of the new library of the medical university.

The main goal of this project is to transform the university library into a multifunctional center, creating an inspiring environment for students.

YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan described the event dedicated to the library transformation initiative as a memorable day, as an event that contributes to internationalization through groundbreaking decisions and qualitative changes at the university. It indicates, he continued, that the university, which has obtained program accreditation, is formally entering the international arena with a modernized library.

“We see our successful graduates working in about 40 countries, as well as about 2,100 foreign students from 32 countries. All this makes us realize that we have a higher educational institution exporting medical education, which carries out a number of obligations under this roof,” Rector emphasized.

According to him, an atmosphere has been formed at the university that constantly pushes you to learn and develop. “It is this idea that was supported by our partners, the “Keron” Foundation, our Government. Our new library is not only be a collection of books or a reading room, but also a new student environment. It contributes to the development of higher education, as well as the competitiveness and export of that education to international platforms. The Medical University has formed a “white army” during its 100-year history, being the constant defender and supporter of our people,” Armen Muradyan concluded.

The event was attended by Tigran Avinyan, the Mayor of Yerevan; Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of RA; Anahit Avanesyan, Minister of Health of RA; Her Excellency Nilakshi Saha Sinha, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia; as well as the representatives of other state structures.

After the ceremony, the high-ranking guests had the opportunity to tour the library, see its current appearance, and visit the prototype room of the future library.

The future YSMU library will expand from 600 sqm to 3,000 sqm, incorporating new zones for learning, research, collaboration, and relaxation. The project aims to fundamentally transform the concept of a university library—turning it into a modern, multifunctional space that brings together education, scientific research, collaboration, and rest in one environment.
