Represented the Country at the ISTH 2026 International Congress

Hematologists, clinical residents, and students from the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology of Yerevan State Medical University and Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center participated in the ISTH 2026 Congress, one of the world’s most prestigious international scientific meetings dedicated to hemostasis and thrombosis.

The Armenian delegation delivered around 12 oral presentations and scientific reports covering current issues in thrombosis, hemostasis, hemophilia, and rare bleeding and thrombotic disorders. The presented research reflected Armenia’s clinical and scientific experience and received high recognition from the international professional community.

The delegation was led by Dr. Hegine Khachatryan, PhD, Head of the Thrombosis and Hemophilia Center at the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center and Lecturer at the Department of Hematology and Pediatric Oncology of Yerevan State Medical University.

Notably, 2026 marked a historic milestone for Armenia. The country became the author and initiator of the World Health Organization (WHO) Resolution on Inherited Bleeding Disorders, which was unanimously adopted by the World Health Assembly. This landmark achievement highlighted Armenia’s leading role in the fields of hemostasis and rare diseases at the international level, while the Armenian delegation’s active and scientifically impactful participation at ISTH 2026 became a natural continuation of this success.

Participation in the congress provided an important opportunity to showcase Armenia’s scientific potential, strengthen international collaboration, and bring the latest scientific and clinical advances in hemostasis, thrombosis, and hematology into the country’s healthcare system.
