“Heratsi” High School and the Ursulinenreal School of Köln will cooperate

Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi hosted the delegation of the Ursulinenreal School of Köln, Germany (Erzbischöfliche Ursulinen Realschule Köln).

Welcoming the guests, Yervand Sahakyan, Vice-Rector for international activities and external relations, noted that the Medical University had a history of effective cooperation with German partners since 2015. “The cooperation started with the University of Munster, and continued with the Universities of Hannover and Berlin. We attach great importance to cooperation between schools,” he emphasized, adding that YSMU was the only state medical university in Armenia.

The Vice-Rector presented the history of the University, informing that it was founded in 1920. “Teaching at our University is trilingual: Armenian, Russian and English. Foreign students from 33 countries of the world study here. Currently, more than 2,000 international students are studying at the University, and they are quite successful in finding jobs in their home countries. This year, we are undergoing international program accreditation, which will certainly create new opportunities for the University’s international cooperation,” Yervand Sahakyan said.

According to him, the Medical University cooperates with medical educational institutions of many European and Asian countries.

Monika Schäfers, the Director of Erzbischöfliche Ursulinen Realschule Köln, the wife of Jürgen Schäfers, Visiting Professor of YSMU, Professor of the University of Munster; informed that the implementation of student exchange programs had already become a tradition in Germany, a good example of which was the cooperation with France. “My husband has been here a lot and always told me about Armenia, that’s how the idea of interaction with the Armenian school came about,” she added with satisfaction.

Anna Ghazaryan, Head of International Cooperation Department; Armin Lux, History and Religion teacher of Erzbischöfliche Ursulinen Realschule Köln; Narine Sargsyan, the Director of “Heratsi” High School; Margarita Babayan, Deputy Director of “Heratsi” High School; were also present at the meeting.
