Indian student: Future doctors should always have the hunger for knowledge

Future neurologist Radhika Rathi is proud to be a part of YSMU big family.

23-year-old Indian student is a 5th year student from the faculty of General Medicine of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi. She was born in New Delhi, India.

“I’m a very cheerful and adventurous person. I try to find joy in slightest things possible. I deeply associate my life mantra around the great philosopher Aristotle’s teaching that ‘Hope is a waking dream’. I always like to travel to new places but during this lockdown due to pandemic I discovered something new about myself: I love to bake as much as I love to eat dessert”, Radhika says.

She usually spends her free time reading new researches in the field of medicine and technology. She also likes watching autobiography.

“It has always been my childhood dream to become a doctor, and I can never see other people suffering. So I decided that there’s no other profession better than the healthcare to alleviate other’s pain”, Radhika emphasizes.

Her school friend was already studying in YSMU, and she got to know about the medical university through her. “I was astonished to see the beauty of Armenia, and I am so proud to be a part of the 100-year-old university”, Radhika notes.

It has always been so interesting for her how the small organ – brain – weighing around 1.5 kg, wires our whole system together. “Hence neurology is my field of interest”, she adds.

The life in Yerevan, according to Radhika, is very jolly. “I have never seen people like Armenians who cherish their heritage and culture to the core”, she says.

From her point of view, it’s very important to be kind and resilient to be a doctor. “I think, consistency is the key to be a good doctor and also to have a successful career. And we as future doctors should be humble and have the hunger for knowledge”, Radhika concludes.
