Yerevan State Medical University is hosting the 15th Asian Congress (SIOP Asia) of the International Society for Pediatric Oncology.
The International Society of Pediatric Oncology is the only multidisciplinary organization in the world dedicated entirely to the study, treatment, and advancement of knowledge in all aspects of pediatric and adolescent cancer.
The company has more than 2,600 members from around the world, including doctors, nurses, other health professionals, scientists and researchers.
“It is a great honor for our century-old university to bring together the leading players in the field of pediatric oncology on May 19-21, contributing to the multiplication of national achievements.
For a mighty 100 years, YSMU has been carrying out a consequential and vital mission – training exceptional doctors. This is evidenced, in particular, by the successes registered in the field of oncology, the methods of diagnosis and treatment applied in accordance with international standards”, YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan mentioned in his speech to the upcoming event.
The vision of SIOP, the International Society of Pediatric Oncology, is: “No child should die of cancer.”
About 100 primary cases of childhood cancer are registered in Armenia every year. This is a global average. 75 of these children recover completely, this is very close to the best international indicators. Unfortunately, we lose 25 children a year, and these are not just numbers for us. It is very important to understand that cancer, especially childhood cancer, is not a sentence.
The congress of the International Society for Pediatric Oncology aims to bring world's pediatric oncology community together to share latest research results, ideas and developments in all areas of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology.
The initiators and organizers are sure, the cooperation between the International Society of Pediatric Oncology and Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi will be continuous, and holding the organization's 15th conference in the capital of our country will be a significant contribution to ensuring the growth of recovery indicators.
