Susanna Davtyan, Lecturer of the Department of Social Sciences of the Medical University, Associate Professor, Doctor of Philosophy, Head of the Armenian part of the international network of the UNESCO Bioethics Department, continues to actively participate in various international conferences in parallel with her university work.
She recently took part in the 29th Assembly of National Advisory Ethics Committees in Paris. “I was first invited from the Council of Europe to the 24th forum in 2019, then, due to the pandemic, the meetings were held online, and this year I again received an official invitation to the 29th forum”.
During the previous forum, the Head of the Bioethics and Human Rights Department of the Council of Europe spoke about human rights. “There were no objections, but I tried to convince private traders that it is not enough to talk only about human rights.” The theme of the assembly is modern problems of bioethics, teaching methods: The motto of the event was “Let’s change the world with education” (Transformer le monde par l’éucation). “Laws and rights are constantly being talked about, but the preservation of human values and humanity is not touched upon”.
We often talk about the economic crisis, but we forget about the mental crisis. When we instill in a child that the state is your master, not your parent, on the one hand, we undermine the concept of a family, an institution, on the other – we bring up a loving state- emphasizes Heratsian. According to the delegate representing Armenia, it is noteworthy that the Council of Europe monitors and studies the reports adopted at the conferences of the UNESCO Department of Bioethics (Head, Professor Amnon Karmi, Israel).: It was also mentioned that the co-chair of one of the scientific sessions of the conference organized by the aforementioned Department was Susanna Davtyan, who stressed, that the representation of bioethics through art, cinema and theater is a more solid and stable knowledge in the field of art.
At the end of the performance, whenever possible, we discuss the topic with the director and the actors, it is very instructive: I was pleased that this topic was also touched upon during the meeting,” added lecturer at the Department of Social Sciences.
It should be noted that the conference was attended by representatives of the USA, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Spain, France, Georgia, Azerbaijan. The opening ceremony was held by the Minister of Health, France. The main purpose of the forum is to promote the dissemination of best practices in the field of ethics and bioethics, providing an opportunity for leading specialists of the Department to be aware of the programs planned by CoE and the work done in this direction”. I am glad that the name of the medical alma mater was once again heard at the organized assembly of the Council of Europe”.
