YSMU Jordanian student: The highest level of happiness for me will be to hear the first “Thank you” from my first patient

Laith Hatem Hijaze came to Armenia from Jordan. The 24-year-old future doctor is studying in the fifth year of the Faculty of General Medicine of the Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi and speaks Armenian very well. In his free time, he likes to do gymnastics and football.

“I took my decision to study medicine after I saw how medicine was changing everyone’s life to better and relieving the pain of people”, Laith says.

He received the opportunity to study at YSMU within the framework of the Jordan-Armenia intergovernmental scholarship program.

“I like Armenia and Armenian people. The life and atmosphere of Yerevan is pretty nice, suitable for students. Armenia is a great place to develop yourself. Armenians are so close to Arabs. Armenia is the place where I would love to study and work after my graduation”, Laith assures.

YSMU, according to him, is a great institute for those who want to study medicine. “Here you are “building” yourself. I’m dreaming of becoming a general surgeon”, international student adds.

From his point of view, medical students should be patient and hardworking.

“The good doctor should always dream of enhancing everyone’s life. The profession of medicine is endless. You have to fail to have success. Do not stop developing yourself. Work hard, and medicine will give you in turn. Finally, you will find happiness. The highest level of happiness for me will be the first “Thank you” of my first patient”, Laith concludes.

It should be noted that today 168 students from Jordan are studying at the medical university.
