The delegation of the Dominican Republic headed by the newly appointed ambassador Frank Hans DanNenberg Castellanos visited Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi, met with Rector Armen Muradyan, and was hosted at the Defender of the Fatherland Rehabilitation Center.
YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan and Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Foreign Relations Yervand Sahakyan introduced the guests to the 100-year-old medical university, as well as the history of the establishment, development and further expansion of the Soldier’s House.
“I am the first ambassador of the Dominican Republic to be accredited in Armenia. Usually we cooperate with different universities of the world, but now I have a special goal. Taking into account the opportunities provided by Armenia, being well aware of the excellent education provided by the universities here, we would like many students from our country to receive medical education at your university” – said Frank Hans Dannenberg Castellanos.
The ambassador has been carrying out his diplomatic mission in India for 14 years. “I remember many Indian students trying to study here. I am very impressed with your university. Our students will also be our cultural ambassadors in your country. And we can strengthen the ties between our countries through students as well,” – added the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Armenia.
The Rector presented YSMU international educational programs to the Ambassador and introduced the activities of the university clinics.
“Thank you for the high appreciation to our university. It is a great honor for us that we are one of the first universities you visit , “- Armen Muradyan expressed satisfaction. Referring to the activities and goals of the Homeland Defender Rehabilitation Center, the rector stressed ․ “At the moment, we continue our medical activities aimed at the rehabilitation treatment of our wounded soldiers. Every country has its pride ․ In France, it is the home of the disabled in Paris, this Center is like that for us”.
” According to the rector, the university has clear approaches to the admission of foreign students, which are defined by government decisions. «If that format l is maintained, we are ready to participate in the educational process. We must state clearly that our goal is to give our students the most humane profession in the world. We are ready to accept a person from any country who wants to become a doctor, who is ready to show high professionalism, has human kindness, and obeys the university rules,” Armen Muradyan emphasized.
“Our university provides incomparably affordable international education, and our graduates work together with the world’s leading specialists,”- the head of the university concluded, adding that YSMU graduates are active in medical activities in about 40 countries around the world.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the discussions related to the admission of students from the Dominican Republic with the Department of International Relations of the Medical University.
