Giving impetus to the development of pediatrics in Armenia

Professors of the Paris-Saclay AP-HP hospital in France were the guests of Yerevan State Medical University. The purpose of the visit is to give impetus to the development of the YSMU School of Pediatrics.

It is planned to sign a trilateral agreement aimed at program development, implementation of exchange programs for students, clinical residents and academic staff.

The guests – Florence Veber, MD, Pediatrician and Public Heath practitioner; Director of International Relations AP-HP, Greater Paris University Hospitals; and Agnès Linglart, Professor of Paediatrics at Bicêtre Paris-Saclay Faculty of Medicine and University, and Head of the department of Endocrinology and Diabetes for Children at the Paris-Saclay AP-HP hospital in France; were accompanied during their visit to the “Muratsan” University Hospital by Levon Khachatryan, Cardiovascular Surgeon of the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris, Visiting Professor at YSMU; Yervand Sahakyan, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and External Relations of YSMU; Khachatur Margaryan, Vice-Rector for Development and Marketing; Taguhi Stepanyan, Chief Physician of the “Muratsan” Hospital Complex; Hripsime Apresyan, Head of the School of Pediatrics of YSMU; and heads of other clinics.

The working visit of leading specialists started from the Clinic of Neonatal and Pediatric Resuscitation, Toxicology and Anesthesiology, where Hrant Kalenteryan, the Head of the Clinic, lecturer of the Department of Neonatology; spoke in detail about the work of the service.

Nikolay Dallakyan, the Head of the Pediatric Surgery Clinic; and the Doctor of the same Clinic David Dallakyan presented the complex surgical interventions performed on newborns.

The French colleagues were interested in many questions, starting from the patient’s application to the details and procedures related to the organization of medical care.

Next, they visited the Clinic of Endocrinology, where the Head, Professor Elena Aghajanova, presented the work of the Clinic and the pediatric endocrine dispensary service, the process of patient management, and the programs of the diabetes school operating within the clinic.

The visit to the University Hospital concluded with a lecture on “New Therapeutic Strategies in Pediatric Endocrinology,” which was presented to the medical staff and students by Agnès Linglart.

She specializes in diabetes and rare diseases. Reflecting on her professional activities in France, the specialist answered the participants’ questions.

In conclusion, Taguhi Stepanyan thanked for the meaningful visit to the pediatric medical institution and expressed hope that the initiated cooperation will expand and be continuous.
