Secretary for West of the Ministry of External Affairs of India Sanjay Verma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia Kishan Dan Dewal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan and representatives of the Embassy visited YSMU.
“Today, 2,000 students from 33 countries receive medical education at the medical university. Most of them are from India. Every student is important for us”, YSMU Rector Armen Muradyan said while greeting the guests.
He mentioned that Armenian-Indian relations in the field of medicine have a history of 35 years. Referring to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years, the rector emphasized that many Indian students had shown that they were not only students, but also trained doctors when necessary.
“Nowadays, 8,000 of our foreign graduates are engaged in professional activities in 40 countries of the world,” stated the head of the university.
“My visit to Armenia would not be complete if I did not visit the medical university. Your university is one of the best medical institutions in the region,” Sanjay Verma shared his opinion, adding that after getting acquainted with the biography of Professor Muradyan, he was impressed by his professional path.
A new small center of art, literature and culture at YSMU: this is how university students described the auditorium opened at the medical university, which will bear the name of India's national leader, famous state and political figure Mahatma Gandhi. The newly opened auditorium was renovated with the financial support of the Embassy of India in Armenia. It will have a library stocked with medical literature and fiction.
