The YSMU teacher will apply the experience acquired at Harvard University at home

In 2019, the 3 departments of pediatric oncology and hematology operating in Armenia were united under the vaults of the R. A. Yeolyan Hematology Center and the Children's Oncology and Hematology Center of Armenia was created, the oncology unit of which was headed by Lilit Sargsyan, a doctor, lecturer of the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology of YSMU.
“It was a great commitment for me, because all children diagnosed in Armenia and Artsakh, as well as children from other countries, had to be treated at this center.. I found the opportunity of a one-year education at Harvard University-the program “leadership in medicine”, which I turned to, not hoping that I would pass. However, to my surprise, I overcame all the competitive stages and got the opportunity to become a student at Harvard University.”,- Lilit Sargsyan notes adding that studying at one of the best universities in the world is an exceptional opportunity to gain knowledge.
An experienced specialist acquired acquaintances with doctors from different countries, managed to make a comparison between us and the world, to choose her best experience in order to be able to implement this experience in Armenia in the future.
At the department, according to her, there is a very interesting model. The golden rule of teamwork which is a healthy debate, discussion and tandem of extensive clinical experience of experienced doctors and constantly updated knowledge of young residents.
The profession of a doctor, especially the work of a pediatrician and, in particular, a pediatric hematologist, considers the most relevant and great dedication. “This is night work, sleepless nights, constantly updated knowledge, as well as great willpower and responsibility. We meet people at a difficult stage of their lives, and we must be able to help not only with medicines, but also with our ability to be compassionate.”
She is grateful to all those people who motivate her in this difficult job and to everyone who supported her during her studies at Harvard.
