On April 8-9, a two-day conference titled “Second Spring School of Heart Failure” for senior and mid-level medical professionals took place at Yerevan State Medical University.
The event brought together specialists from the Cardiology and Angiology Clinic of the University of Magdeburg, Germany; and the Cardiology Clinic of the “Heratsi” Hospital Complex of YSMU.
In parallel, the role of the nurse in the management of heart failure was discussed at the YSMU Ultrasound University Training Center (Jefferson Auditorium).
The conference participants and the YSMU leadership were welcomed by Rainer Robra, Minister of Culture of the German state of Saxony. He emphasized that international cooperation and knowledge transfer were essential for the dissemination of new treatment methods, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic options.
The German delegation members met with YSMU Rector, Professor Armen Muradyan. “We are closely monitoring health indicators. It is gratifying that mortality from cardiovascular diseases is decreasing in Western Europe. Although it still remains one of the leading causes, the duration and quality of life are very important,” Rector Armen Muradyan told, noting that heart failure was not only a medical, but also a health and social problem.
“Our two countries are in the same transition period. The key areas of our cooperation are education and culture. And I am very happy that in recent years we have been able to deepen it in the field of science, especially in medicine,” Rainer Robra emphasized.
Professor Rüdiger Christian Braun-Dulleus, Head of the Cardiology and Angiology Clinic at the University Hospital of Magdeburg, Germany; also stated that he was happy to introduce young specialists with Professor Hamayak Sisakyan, with whom joint projects have been implemented for years.
The meeting touched upon the harms of the COVID-19 pandemic, the fight against smoking, as well as the training of senior and middle medical staff.
