Working Discussion with Partners from the US Cedars-Sinai International Medical Center

Armen Muradyan, Rector of Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) after Mkhitar Heratsi, received a delegation led by Talip Kurumehmet, Managing Director, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) at Cedars-Sinai International.

Welcoming the guests, the university’s head expressed readiness to continue and deepen cooperation with one of the world’s leading centers by signing a framework document on capabilities and potential directions.

Armen Muradyan outlined five key directions: medical education and professional development, development of the simulation center, robotic surgery education, clinical research and academic collaboration, as well as telemedicine and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The Rector expressed hope that such a prestigious medical institution will have extensive participation in the Armenian Medical World Congress-2027, to be held in Yerevan on July 8–10 next year. The congress will bring together Armenian medical thought onto a single platform, uniting renowned physician-scientists, researchers, lecturers, clinical specialists, and students arriving from various countries around the world.

Talip Kurumehmet expressed satisfaction with the effectiveness of the bilateral cooperation. He suggested adding one more area to the directions highlighted by Professor Muradyan: clinical case discussions, noting that the ultimate goal of the collaboration is to provide the best possible treatment for patients. “We are actively preparing the legal documents for cooperation and are confident that it will be signed by the end of the year,” added Talip Kurumehmet.

The head of the medical university welcomed the idea of joint clinical case discussions, emphasizing that such discussions will serve as an excellent bridge, enabling YSMU alumni working at Cedars-Sinai International to very quickly smooth out any potential issues and challenges that may arise.

The specialists arriving from the USA also toured various university departments, including the computer lab, the YSMU “COBRAIN” Center for Fundamental Brain Research, and the “Soldier’s House” Rehabilitation Center.
