Leading experts from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden are presenting a series of lectures on public health at Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi.
The lectures, scheduled for February 16–20, are held in English, and they are interactive.
Max Petzold, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for digitalization and knowledge transfer of the University of Gothenburg; Professor of biostatistics; told that one aim is to support the individual projects. “But the other is, of course, to create connections, support PhD students, and help couple of students to come to Sweden for two-month training. Then, of course, in the long run, developing the applications for research and develop connections between universities. We had a lot of good research and experiences within these 7 years”, he added.
Lait Hussain, Senior University Lecturer at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine; noticed that he had also been part of this collaboration for some years. “And, I think, we have built on this group, this discussion format with my colleagues. But now these lectures, I would say, will also support the ongoing research here, very large projects with some funding. We will share technical information about research methodologies. Hopefully, this is the start”, he assured, informing that this kind of meetings would include not only group, but also individual discussions.
Leonard Stockfelt, MD at the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine; said there were interesting presentations from PhD Students about how to increase vaccination which is so important for public health. “Epidemiology in statistics is highly transferable: you can’t use the same methods everywhere. That’s why these lectures are very good for international collaborations”, he emphasized.
According to Artashes Tadevosyan, Head of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Organization, nearly 7 years of cooperation are bearing fruit, and within the framework of the working visit of Swedish specialists, both the experience of students already trained in Sweden and future cooperation programs between Yerevan State Medical University and the University of Gothenburg will be discussed.
