Professor Artashes Tadevosyan discussed with his Spanish colleagues the fight against COVID-19

Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi continues the effective cooperation with the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Professor Artashes Tadevosyan, Head of YSMU Chair of Public Health, has recently held lectures at the above-mentioned university.

“I have participated in many events within the framework of the European Union “Erasmus+” program, but the participation in the lecturers’ exchange program among universities was my first time. It was a very interesting experience. I suggested different topics to discuss with the students. But the number one topic discussed in the world today is the coronavirus disease, and I was asked to describe the situation in Armenia”, Artashes Tadevosyan tells.

About 240 students participated in the course. The main topic of the discussion was the impact of the pandemic in our country from the point of view of public health: the process of spread, the approaches of struggle, the behavior of the population.

“It was very important for me to see how people live and deal with the pandemic in Spain, to understand cultural differences from the point of view of public health. Our experience was also interesting for them”, the university specialist emphasizes.

In the small Spanish town of Santiago de Compostela, according to him, 90% of the population was wearing masks even in open areas.
