June 14 was special at Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi․ The honorary guest of the 100-year-old forge of future doctors was Ardem Patapoutian, the first Nobel Prize winner of Armenian origin, the prominent Armenian-American scientist, the molecular biologist-neurobiologist, the professor at the Doris Center for Neurology at the Scripps Research Institute in California, and a researcher at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
The solemn session of the YSMU Academic Council was dedicated to Ardem Patapoutian, the first Armenian laureate of the 2021 Nobel Prize, the prominent Armenian-American scientist, the molecular biologist-neurobiologist, the professor at the Doris Center for Neurology at the Scripps Research Institute in California, and a researcher at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Within the framework of the European Union Erasmus + project SAFEMED (Simulation in Undergraduate MEDical Education for Improvement of SAFEty and Quality of Patient Care) project, YSMU specialists held working meetings with representatives of the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain and the University of Catania in Italy.
The final attestation process for the graduates of the 2021-2022 academic year of the Dean's Office of International Students, the Faculties of General Medicine, Stomatology and Pharmacy has started at YSMU. We wish good luck to all our graduates on the difficult and responsible path of becoming qualified professionals.
Future dermatologist Poshia Wshyar Rashid has come to Armenia from Iraq. She studies at the Faculty of General Medicine of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi.
The 40th congress of the European Association of Pediatric Infectious Diseases held in Athens was also attended by the Armenian delegates of Muratsan University Hospital, representing the 100-year-old medical university. Sose Margaryan, as a coordinator of the reanimation department, participated in the Meet the Expert session, which was dedicated to the infections of the joint system. Violeta Manukyan, clinical resident of the same department, participated in the WALTER MARGET EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP within the framework of the conference, during which interesting clinical cases are discussed and presented.
Susanna Davtyan, Lecturer of the Department of Social Sciences of the Medical University, Associate Professor, Doctor of Philosophy, Head of the Armenian part of the international network of the UNESCO Bioethics Department, continues to actively participate in various international conferences in parallel with her university work.She recently took part in the 29th Assembly of National Advisory Ethics Committees in Paris. “I was first invited from the Council of Europe to the 24th forum in 2019, then, due to the pandemic, the meetings were held online, and this year I again received an official invitation to the 29th forum”.
After a long break, the Red Hall was flooded with active student cultural breath. The students attended the event “Student Spring”, organized by the Student Parliament of YSMU, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the founding of the student structure. With a minute of silence, those present honored the memory of fellow cadets who died in the war, today’s heroes, Heratsians.
